Terms of Service

The rules that keep Sharelum fair for authors and readers, written in plain words. Each section starts with a one-line summary.

Updated October 14, 2026Privacy Policy

01

What Sharelum is

In short: A place where authors get honest reviews from real readers — not a store and not part of Amazon.

Sharelum connects authors who want honest feedback on their books with readers who try those books and share what they really think. Readers earn snaps; authors spend snaps to ask for reviews.

Sharelum is independent. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by or acting for Amazon or any other marketplace. Their own terms and review rules always apply to anything you post there.

By creating an account, joining the waitlist or using Sharelum, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the service.

02

Your account

In short: You must be 18+, use one account, and keep your login safe.

  • You must be at least 18 years old.
  • One account per person. Duplicate, shared or automated accounts may be closed.
  • Give accurate details and keep them up to date. You are responsible for activity on your account and for keeping your password private.
  • Tell us at [email protected] if you think someone else has accessed your account.

03

Honest reviews only

In short: We reward reviews for being honest and on time — never for being positive.

The whole point of Sharelum is honest feedback. Snaps are kept for a verified review, whatever its rating. A one-star review that is honest earns exactly the same as a five-star one.

  • Readers must actually use the book before reviewing it, write in their own words, and follow Amazon's review and disclosure rules (including any requirement to say how they got the book).
  • Authors must never ask for, pressure for or reward a positive rating, ask for a review to be changed or removed, or contact readers outside the platform about their review.
  • You can't review your own books, and readers can't review books from authors who have reviewed theirs (we block review swaps).
  • Fake, copied, AI-generated-without-use, or paid-for-rating reviews are not allowed.

Breaking these rules can mean snaps are reversed, reviews are rejected, and the account is closed.

04

Listing books

In short: Every book is checked by our team before readers can see it.

  • You may only list books you own or are authorised to promote, with an accurate title, description and Amazon link.
  • Every new book starts as a draft and appears in the library only after our team approves it. We may reject or remove any book without giving a reason.
  • No illegal, unsafe, counterfeit, adult or misleading books.
  • You let us show your book details (title, cover, description, link) inside Sharelum so readers can find it.

05

Snaps and requests

In short: Snaps are a credit inside Sharelum — no cash value, can't be bought, sold or withdrawn.

Snaps only exist inside Sharelum. They have no cash value, can't be exchanged for money, transferred to another person, or redeemed outside the platform.

  • When you open a review request, its full cost (cost per review × goal) is set aside from your balance up front.
  • A reader receives the full cost per review in snaps the moment they claim a slot, and keeps it once their review is verified by our moderators.
  • If a claim is rejected, expires or is cancelled, the same amount is taken back from the reader — even if that makes their balance negative — and the slot goes back to the request. While a balance is negative, new claims and requests are paused until it's earned back.
  • When a request closes, unused slots are refunded to the author in snaps.
  • Bonuses: 50 snaps when you join, 2,000 snaps for each person who joins with your referral link, and 10 snaps for a community post.
  • Where a request asks for a verified purchase, the reader buys the book on Amazon themselves. The extra snaps in that request recognise the purchase — Sharelum does not refund purchases in money.

Every movement of snaps is recorded. We may correct mistakes and reverse snaps earned by breaking these terms.

06

How reads work

In short: Claim (and get snaps at once), use, review before the deadline — moderators verify, ask for changes or reject.

  • Each read has a deadline that depends on the book: digital books (e-books, subscriptions, files) have up to 3 days; physical books have 30 days for delivery, real use and Amazon accepting the review. You can extend it once (3 days for digital, 14 for physical), or cancel it with a reason.
  • There are weekly and open-at-once limits on claims, so books reach many different readers.
  • Moderators check each review against its live link. They can verify it (the snaps paid on claim are kept), ask for changes, or reject it (the snaps are taken back).

07

Plans, founding offer and billing

In short: We're opening to the first 100 members by invite: 12 months free, then $5/month for life.

During our founding launch, public signup is closed. You can join the waitlist; we invite people in batches, in order, and friends who join with your link move you up. Joining the waitlist doesn't guarantee an invite.

  • Founding members (up to 100) get 12 months of full access free, with no card needed, plus 1,600 starter snaps.
  • After the free period, founding members can continue at $5/month for as long as their subscription stays active. If you cancel later, the founding price isn't kept.
  • Invite links are personal, single-use and expire.

Regular pricing is $9/month or $79/year. Prices are shown before you pay and may change for future billing periods with notice.

  • Payments are processed by LemonSqueezy, our merchant of record. They handle your card details, receipts and sales tax; we never see or store your full card number.
  • Subscriptions renew automatically until you cancel. You can cancel anytime from Billing; access continues until the end of the paid period.
  • If you're not happy, contact us within 30 days of your first payment for a refund.

08

Community and content

In short: Be kind, post your own content, and we may remove anything that breaks the rules.

You keep ownership of what you post (reviews, posts, comments, images). You give Sharelum a licence to host and show it inside the service so it works as intended.

  • No harassment, hate, spam, scams, personal data of others or content you don't have rights to.
  • We may remove content or limit accounts that break these rules.
  • Video shorts are coming soon and are not part of the service yet.

09

Closing an account

In short: You can leave anytime; we may suspend accounts that break these terms.

You can stop using Sharelum at any time and ask us to delete your account at [email protected]. Unused snaps are lost when an account is closed.

We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, harms other members or puts the service at risk. Where it's fair and safe to do so, we'll tell you why.

10

Disclaimers and liability

In short: We work hard to keep Sharelum running well, but we can't promise sales, rankings or that reviews stay up.

Sharelum is provided "as is". We don't guarantee any number of reviews, any rating, more sales, better ranking, or that Amazon will keep a review published — those decisions are theirs.

Books are supplied by authors, not by us; any issue with a book itself is between the author and the buyer.

To the extent the law allows, Sharelum isn't liable for indirect or consequential losses, and our total liability is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing here limits rights you have under consumer law that can't be excluded.

11

Changes and contact

In short: If these terms change in a way that matters, we tell you first.

We update these terms as the product changes. If a change materially affects you, we'll let you know by email or in the app before it takes effect. The date at the top shows the latest version.
